We make suction nozzles for a cutter suction dredger. This is a stationary or self-propelled dredger that uses its rotating cutter head to loosen material from the bottom (cutting).
Below the cutting head is the suction nozzle, a suction opening that is directly connected to one or more large centrifugal pumps via a suction tube. The cut material is sucked up by the negative pressure at the suction opening. Lasco Staalbouw bv has now been allowed to make more than 800 suction nozzles for various dredging companies.
As indicated above, most cutter suction dredgers are stationary dredgers. During dredging, a spud pole -down to the seabed- secures the ship.
This keeps the ship in the same location, but by using winches and anchors it swings sideways. The cutting head fragments and removes the soil in the meantime. The diameter of the spud poles that Lasco Staalbouw bv makes varies from external 323.9 mm. to 1200 mm. The largest spud poles that we made had an external diameter of 1200 mm. and a length of 32.2 meters with a total weight of 35000 kg.
With the acquisition of Lasbochtenfabriek Troost BV in Baambrugge at the beginning of 2014, Lasco Staalbouw BV now has its own welding bend department.
Lasbochtenfabriek Troost BV once started as a rough forge (1948) and over time specialized in the production of welding bends. As early as the 1950s, bends were made for the then shipyard IHC Verschure.
In our compact bend factory we produce bends in standard and non-standard dimensions. We supply bends with or without flange, with inner diameters varying from just 145 mm to 1,200 mm. We can also produce reducers, reducer bends and T-pieces in our bend factory. Because we permanently have a large stock of 500 tons of various types of steel plates, we can take orders into production quickly and reliably, which makes us flexible so that we can deliver sharply and quickly.
